2018 members' survey

2018 Members' Survey: Results

We had 27 members complete our questionnaires asking you the membership your ideas for subjects to get speakers to talk about in the 2019 season.    Not everyone completed the questionnaires as requested so we did have one or two anomalies.

We allocated 10 points for your first choice, 7 points for your second choice, 5 points for your third choice and one point for your fifth choice.   Some people did not specify what their choices were in order, or chose more than 5 etc, etc.    So what were the results?    Well, allocating the points as stated the popular choices were as follows:

The results were interesting in that two subjects were very popular in particular with ‘Low Maintenance Gardening’ and ‘Garden Planning and Planting’ in second place.   Both of these subjects were chosen by 11 different members each.    In third place was ‘Growing in Containers’ with 9 members choosing this subject.    We then had no more than 5 members choosing the remainder of the top 10 subjects.   It was very interesting to see the wide variety of choices made which shows the difficulty of catering for all member’s choices.    An interesting exercise and we will be using this data to put together our programme for next year.

When it comes to where you would like to have out away day next year the results were as follows:
  1. Exbury Gardens – 59 Points
  2. Mottisfont – 52 Points
  3. West Dean – 40 Points
  4. Houghton Lodge – 38 Points
  5. Longstock – 32 Points
  6. Wisley – 20 Points
As most members chose 4 we scored them 6 points for 1st Choice, 4 Points for 2nd Choice, 2 points for 3rd choice and 1 points for 4th.    Exbury had 12 members choose it and 8 of them made it their first choice.   The runner up was Mottisfont and more members chose this location (15) but only 5 members chose it as their first choice.    So we will be looking at these two locations in a bit more detail to see if we can arrange our away day at either of these location in July 2019.

Thank you to all members who completed the questionnaire.
